The routine of picking out your outfit, accessories, and shoes is an important part of the day. After all, what you wear is, in part, a representation of who you are and how you’d like to present yourself personally and professionally.

When it comes to choosing your outfit, you want to put your best foot forward – and that starts with your wardrobe.

The state of your wardrobe really sets the tone for the day. You want to ensure it’s organized and pleasurable to look at – and not a chaotic mess that creates stress and has you wasting precious time sorting through clutter. Here are a few simple wardrobe tips to get you looking your best!

Unified hangers

Use all the same style hangers, such as all wood or all black plastic hangers to create a unified, cohesive look. This not only looks nice, but it’s a space saver, too – a jumble of irregular, mismatched hangers takes up precious real estate in the closet.

Tip: Save your wood hangers for hanging heavier items like blazers and coats. Skinny velvet hangers are a favourite because they take up less room in the closet and they’re more affordable. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter which type of hangers you pick, just keep it consistent!

Focus on ready to wear

Limit your closet to clothes that are in good condition and ready to wear. Set aside any items that need repairs, alterations, or dry cleaning for when you’re ready to tend to them. When it comes to your wardrobe, you should be worry-free from any possible rips, tears or stains you may have forgotten about.

Keep things organized

Hang your clothes so that they all face the same direction, which will make flipping through your wardrobe selection a lot quicker. Group similar items together (a section for tank tops, sleeveless blouses, jackets, skirts, pants, etc.) and within each group organize by colour – which really comes in handy when styling your outfits. With every new season, store away any off-season clothing into bins, baskets, or canvas boxes to create more space.

With these simple wardrobe tips, you’ll have an organized closet that will help you to look your best every day.
